Nervous System Regulation

Regulating our nervous system is a crucial step in order to understand and transform conflict. When our nervous system gets activated, we tend to have a fight or flight response, and we lose access to specific parts of our brain, because we are focused on protecting ourselves. Stress, emotional triggers and trauma all tend to dysregulate our nervous system.

In this workshop, we will teach you some simple techniques to regulate, relax and recenter, that you can then use in your everyday life and in conflict situations.

Workshop facilitated by both Barbara and Emilian.

This workshop is available in English, Spanish or French.

Active Listening

Often, we listen to others in order to react. We ask questions, give advice, share our opinions or ideas. In situations of conflict, it is useful to be able to listen in order to deeply understand what the other is sharing, how they feel, and what they mean, before reacting.

Active Listening is a method created by Carl Rogers teaching us to focus on truly listening to others and making them feel heard and understood. In this workshop, you will learn the theory of Active Listening and practice the method.

Introduction to Non Violent Communication

Nonviolent Communication is a method created by Marshall Rosenberg. It is based on the idea that our feelings come from our needs being met or unmet. Being able to share our feelings and needs in a non-judgemental way transforms the way we communicate with others, and improves our chances at understanding and transforming conflict.

Introduction to Peace and Conflict

What is peace for you? What is conflict? What is violence? This workshop is a peace education space to discuss these questions together, and to reflect through exercises and learning about different conceptions of peace.

Empathy Training

Understanding others is not always easy. Why do they do what they do? Feel what they feel? Even if we will never be able to fully understand everyone, we can train in order to understand more and more people. In situations of conflict, it helps us grasp the experience of others and create a bridge of understanding.

However, empathy is not always available or enough: how to make sure it actually leads to compassionate actions? When is empathy too much to bear? And what if we don´t want to understand?

This workshop provides a space to discuss the concept of empathy, and tools to improve our understanding of others.

Consent Workshop

To develop a Consent Practice is to learn how to identify what we want and don´t want, and being able to communicate it to others and ask what they want or not. It is not as easy as it seems. In situations of conflict, being used to identify our needs, maintain our boundaries, and respecting the ones of others is extremely useful.
